Motrex Group and Daon I&C to Advance the Industrialization of Korean-Made Drones and Target the Next-Generation Unmanned Automation Market

Motrex Group, a mobility solutions provider, and Daon I&C, an AI and swarm-drone specialist, are stepping up efforts to industrialize Korean-made drones and expand into the next-generation unmanned automation market through a strategic investment.

The two companies view the investment not merely as a financial commitment or manufacturing partnership, but as an opportunity for strategic collaboration.

By combining Daon I&C’s expertise in core drone technologies and AI-based autonomy and unmanned systems with Motrex Group’s strengths in manufacturing, automotive electronics, infrastructure and global business, they aim to connect Korea’s drone technology development and localization capabilities with stable manufacturing, quality and operational systems—and accelerate adoption in real-world industrial settings.

The domestic drone market is characterized by low-volume, high-mix production, with specifications varying according to mission requirements and end users. Drawing on its experience in flexible manufacturing and quality management across automotive infotainment, special-purpose vehicles and electric vehicles, Motrex Group plans to apply process control, quality assurance and parts traceability systems to drone manufacturing, helping establish a repeatable mass-production framework.

Daon I&C has pursued the localization of swarm-flight technology, flight controllers (FCs), ground control systems (GCS) and AI-based autonomous flight technology. Building on this expertise, the two companies

plan to expand into an integrated unmanned automation platform that brings together drones, stations, integrated control systems and AI.

In particular, they plan to link Motrex EV’s expertise in operating electric vehicle charging infrastructure with drone stations, developing them into standardized, unmanned infrastructure hubs capable of charging, status monitoring and remote inspection.

The companies aim to strengthen the manufacturing and supply competitiveness of Korean-made drones in the defense and public sectors, while expanding into safety inspection markets for power and energy facilities and other industrial sites.

Over the medium to long term, they will explore business models that extend beyond product supply to include local operations and infrastructure development. These efforts will build on an unmanned automation platform validated in Korea, combining Daon I&C’s overseas partnerships with Motrex Group’s global network.

A Motrex Group representative said, “By combining Motrex Group’s accumulated capabilities in manufacturing, quality management and infrastructure businesses with Daon I&C’s drone and AI technologies, we will expand our future mobility business based on physical AI.”
